Asking For It is one of my top reads
from this year.
I was obsessed and captured by it instantly and when I finished it,
I wished I didn't have to wait a couple of months for the sequel.
It was just phenomenal.
So as soon as Begging For It was released I had to purchase it.
I couldn't wait to get back into
Vivienne and Jonah's world.
Begging For It picks up right where Asking For It ended. Jonah couldn't be in a relationship with Vivienne.
She's a rape victim who fantasizes about being attacked and she finds a partner in Jonah, who as well has that fantasy but as the attacker.
But when Jonah finds out the truth
behind Vivienne's fantasies,
he has to say stop.
Because now he feels like a rapist
and he also has some deep trauma
from his childhood to deal with
and that resurfaces as well.
Vivienne is such a great heroine. She's such a strong and giving person. She's there for her friends and puts their needs before her own. I love how certain and controlled
she is when Jonah and her play their games.
There she is no victim, but
the person in control.
Her love towards her niece is beautiful and wants so desperately to be in her life,
but due to certain circumstances
she has to make a choice.
Jonah is a very interesting, dark and layered hero. He's also a victim of sexual abuse
but in a different and horrific way.
Despite his abuse/experience he's a good and caring man,
but deeply broken.
He's very attentive towards
Vivienne's needs and her limits/boundaries when they are discussing
how to play their games.
It all has to come down to her feeling comfortable and in control.
He also has his own limits
and is very vocal about them.
This was such an exciting read. To see how two deeply traumatized people can find their way back to each other,
when so much darkness
is surrounding them.
Their only connection at
first was their fantasies
and then it turn into so much more.
I was so obsessed and captivated by their past and present stories.
Their games were so dark
and yet deeply erotic.
I couldn't stop reading.
Their games turns darker
and at no point did my feelings change
when it came to Jonah or Vivienne.
They were both in control
in their own way and
their love and respect for each other
was apparent and strong.
How they work to find their way back
was perfectly paced.
I loved every moment and
nothing felt forced.
This was a perfect conclusion
to an innovative,
different and beautiful story.
I can't wait to see what
Lilah Pace creates next.
