It all started with a pinky swear…
Linden McGregor is tall, rugged, and gunslinger handsome; a helicopter pilot with a Scottish brogue and charm to spare. He’s also one of Stephanie Robson’s best friends and has fit into that box for as long as she’s known him.
But some relationships can’t be boxed, can’t be classified, can’t be tamed.
Back in their mid-twenties and tired of the competitive hit-or-miss dating scene of San Francisco, Steph and Linden made a pact to marry each other if neither one of them are in a serious relationship by the time they hit thirty.
It sounds like fun and games but as the years to thirty tick past and lovers come and go out of their lives, the pact becomes larger than life.
Sex is inevitable. Friendships are tested. Hearts are on the line.
The pact is about to change everything.
Why the hell
did I wait so long to read this book?
But then again I'm so so happy
that I finally did.
Cause what a great friends
to lovers story this truly is.
This story had a little of everything.
It was funny, it had drama and it definitely had lots of love
with smoldering hot sex.
What's not to like.
Nothing!
Stephanie is one feisty,
funny and sweet as hell woman.
I thoroughly enjoyed her.
Hardworking and a loyal friend
to Linden and her ex James.
Linden.
Boy oh boy. W
hat a dirty talking yet sexy man.
I loved him despite his faults.
Linden and Stephanie's friendship was funny and at times it gave me goosebumps.
Their growing love and attraction towards each other was such an emotional ride.
I loved it and at times I hated it.
That's how their actions made me feel.
But I love that a story
can evoke such feelings in me.
I was pulling and cheering
for them every step of the way.
When they first do get together.
Holy fireworks batman!
That kiss!
I could feel their needs
down to my toes.
What continues from there is
two best friends falling
head over heels in love.
It's two people evolving
and finally figuring out
what true love and
soul mates are all about.
But nothing is as easy as it seems and they both have to figure out,
what's important and matters the most. Sacrifices are going to be made.
Feelings are definitely going to get hurt,
but it's all part of this emotional and beautiful journey between
Linden and Stephanie.
I couldn't get enough!

She thinks he's an arrogant playboy.
He thinks she's an uptight prude.
But he's about to make her an offer she can't refuse.
Nicola Price used to have it all – a great career, the perfect boyfriend, an excessive shoe collection and an apartment in one of San Francisco’s best neighborhoods. But when she gets knocked up and her asshat boyfriend leaves her high and dry, Nicola’s perfectly crafted world comes tumbling down. And stays that way.
Now, Nicola is the proud single mom to a five-year old daughter and living a giant lie. She can barely afford their ghetto apartment and all the men she dates run when they hear she comes with a child. She’s struggling and scared – and nowhere near where she thought she’d be at age thirty-one.
Her saving grace comes in the form of a tall, handsome and wealthy Scotsman Bram McGregor, the older brother of her friend Linden. Bram understands a thing or two about pride, so when tragic circumstances place Nicola at rock bottom, he offers them a place to live in the apartment complex he owns. It’s pretty much the perfect deal, so as long as she doesn’t mind living beside Bram, a man that, despite his generosity, seems to antagonize her at every turn.
But nothing in life is free and as Nicola gets her feet back on the ground, she discovers that the enigmatic playboy may end up costing her more than she thought.
She might just lose her heart.
Those McGregor brothers are nothing but trouble
This series keeps getting better and better. I'm glad Karina Halle decided to make
an adult romance series about
people in their thirties.
The characters and the
topics are very relatable.
It's such a great core of people.
I now know them from the first book,
The Pact, so it's easy to
dive back into the scene.
This book focuses on
Nicola and Bram.
Nicola, a single mom
with a cute five year old
daughter Ava.
Bram is Linden's older brother.
He's got money and can catch a chick whenever it pleases him.
Total opposites.
When Bram takes notice
of Nicola's difficult situation,
he helps her by letting her move in to his apartment building.
What follows is two people
discovering new sides
to themselves and each other.
Bram is,
as he puts it himself,
a manwhore.
But a sexy one at that.
He uses his dick whenever he can.
Nicola is a very good mother to Ava.
Used to be a wild chick
before she became a mother.
So Bram does everything
in his power
to get Nicola to let her wild side out.
Their bantering is funny as hell.
So many sexual innuendos.
I loved it!!!
They both have a lot of baggage
so they're vulnerable
in their own way.
Their story and the characters
were a joyful ride.
These characters have captured me.
I'm invested in all of them.
I want to know more.
Thankfully there's, so far,
one more book in the series.
I'm so ready!

Kayla Moore has always been comfortable with her feisty, maneating reputation. At least it was fine until she hit her thirties and saw her best friends Stephanie and Nicola settle down with Linden and Bram McGregor, leaving Kayla to be the odd one out. Tired of being the third wheel with nothing but one-night stands and dead-end dates in San Francisco, Kayla decides to take a vow of celibacy and put men on the backburner.
That is until she lays her eyes on Linden and Bram’s cousin, hot Scot Lachlan McGregor. Lachlan is her sexual fantasy come to life – tall, tatted, and built like a Mack truck. With a steely gaze and successful rugby career back in Edinburgh, he’s the kind of man that makes her want to throw her vow right out the window. But Lachlan’s quiet and intense demeanor makes him a hard man to get to know, let alone get close to.
It isn’t until the two of them are thrown together one long, unforgettable night that Kayla realizes there is so much more to this brooding macho man than what meets the eye. But even with sparks flying between the two, Lachlan can’t stay in America forever. Now, Kayla has to decide whether to uproot her whole life and chance it all on someone she barely knows or risk getting burned once again.
Sometimes love is a game that just needs to be played.
Holy Fucking YES!
Karina Halle keeps on rolling
with this series. I'm so unbelievably glad, that I've read all three
of her books in this series.
The Play being her latest.
Because what a book this is!
These characters right
from the first book keep growing on me. Really getting under my skin
and in a good fucking way.
The Play is strong character based story about Kayla and Lachlan.
They are two totally opposite people.
She's very open and forthcoming.
Speaks her mind whenever it suits her.
Not always in the most appropriate way.
To people she might come across
as a party girl, who just wants to get laid. Kayla doesn't hide the fact,
that she loves to fuck and
takes it whenever the chance occurs.
But there's more to her
than meets the eye.
She's got so many layers
and behind it all,
she's like everyone else.
An insecure woman
with a good heart and a lot of love.
Lachlan on the other hand
is a quiet brooding man.
Doesn't surround himself
with a lot of people.
Mainly because he doesn't
have many friends in his life.
He's had a traumatizing childhood
with a lot of neglect and abandonment.
That follows him through out
his adulthood. But despite his problems which is a result from his trauma,
he's still a good and kindhearted man.
He doesn't let many in
behind his closed armor
and with good reason.
When he finally takes a chance on Kayla something changes within him.
When Kayla and Lachlan meet,
they really bring out the best in each other. Change each other.
Their relationship was such an intense
and deeply captivating ride.
Holy fuck!
So many emotions.
Especially the reveal
of Lachlan's childhood.
How deeply damaged
and broken he truly is.
How strong Kayla loves
and how she grows.
How connected they are with each other. Especially when they're having sex.
They're molded into one.
This was a beautiful and
at times exhausting ride.
But in a very good way.
So many real emotions and situations,
that I and everyone can relate to.
Kayla and Lachlan will forever
have a place in my heart
as will the other characters
from this series.
This is too damn good to let go.
I hope there's more to all of their stories.
