Release Blitz - Gods & Monsters by Saffron A. Kent

Title: Gods & Monsters
Author: Saffron A. Kent
Genre: Contemporary/New Adult Romance
Release Date: February 22, 2018

Blurb

He was an artist. She was his muse.

To everyone in town, Abel Adams was the devil's spawn, a boy who never should have been born. A monster.

To twelve year-old Evie Hart, he was just a boy with golden hair, soft t-shirts and a camera. A boy who loved taking her picture and sneaking her chocolates before dinner. A boy who made her feel special.

Despite her family's warnings, she loved him in secret for six years. They met in empty classrooms and kissed in darkened church closets. Until they couldn't.

Until the time came to choose between love and family, and Evie chose Abel.

Because their love was worth the risk. Their love was the stuff of legend.

But the thing about legends is that they are cautionary tales. They are made of choices and mistakes. And for Abel and Evie, the artist and the muse, those mistakes come in the form of lights, camera, sex.

NOTE: This is NOT a paranormal or a priest romance.

This third book from Saffron A. Kent is nothing like her previous books and I love that. I had no idea what to expect from Gods & Monsters and I’m certain that’s why it was such a wonderful surprise and I really enjoyed it.
This coming of age story has everything. Especially a plot that resonates with people, strong and flawed characters. Both equally well developed and just kept unfolding as the story progressed.

Abel and Evie aka Pixie. I loved everything about them. How their story began when Evie was twelve , Abel fourteen and how they formed a friendship and an alliance. Not only against her parents but also their town who tried to keep them apart. Their friendship slowly turned into a powerful love that was an unstoppable force. The odds were against Abel and Evie from the beginning but nothing could keep them from one another. All that hate and objection towards their love led to them feeling so much anger and ultimately running away together.

Abel and Evie had to deal with their anger and their solution was unconventional but I totally got it. Their love and connection was intoxicating and incredible. Abel was Evie’s God and she worshipped him but it was also the other way around. Evie was everything to Abel. He was such a hot alpha who needed Evie to breathe. Their love oozed off the pages. I was waiting for the conflict to happen and when it did it was emotional. It was so important for the characters growth and I appreciate the way Saffron A. Kent chose to go about it.
I love the message/theme of the book. People and their opinions are everywhere. How they view us and how we view ourselves but it’s important to listen to oneself. Abel and his Pixie had to learn that the hard way but it only made them stronger. Survivors.

Author Bio

Writer of bad romances. Aspiring Lana Del Rey of the Book World.

Saffron is a big believer in love (obviously). She believes in happily ever after, the butterflies and the tingling. But she also believes in edgy, rough and gutsy kind of love. She believes in pushing the boundaries, darker (sometimes morally ambiguous) emotions and imperfections.

The kind of love she writes about is flawed just like her characters. And she hopes by the end of it, you’ll come to root for them just as much as she does. Because love, no matter where it comes from, is always pure and beautiful.

She is represented by Meire Dias of Bookcase Agency

Meet P. Dangelico:
Dangelico loves romance in all forms, cuddly creatures (four legged and two), really bloody sexy pulp, the NY Jets (although she’s reconsidering after this season), and to while away the day at the barn (apparently she does her best thinking shoveling horse crap). What she’s not enamored with is referring to herself in the third person and social media so don’t expect her to get on Twitter anytime soon. Oh, and although she was born in Italy, she’s been Jersey Strong since she turned six.

Blog Tour - In Harmony by Emma Scott

Title: In Harmony

Author: Emma Scott

Release Date: Tuesday, February 13, 2018

Tagline: “The root of all madness is an unbearable truth...”

The root of all madness is an unbearable truth… At seventeen, Willow Holloway’s life was torn apart. The happy, driven girl is gone, and she is left wracked by post-traumatic stress her body remembers even if she does not. When her father suddenly uproots the family from their posh penthouse in New York City to the tiny town of Harmony, Indiana, Willow becomes more untethered and lost under the weight of her secret. On a whim, she auditions for a part in the community theater’s production of Hamlet and unexpectedly wins the role of Ophelia—the girl who is undone by madness, and her love of Hamlet…
Isaac Pierce is from the ‘wrong side of the tracks.’ The town bad boy. Girls pine for his attention and guys are in awe of him. That he’s an acting prodigy only adds to his charisma. Isaac utterly disappears into his characters; the stage is the only place he feels safe from his own traumatic home life. He wants nothing more than to escape to Broadway or Hollywood, and leave Harmony behind for good.
No one can play Hamlet but Isaac, and when the director pairs him with Willow in acting class, they clash again and again—neither willing to open their hearts to anyone. But clashing leads to breaking, breaking leads to the spilling of terrible secrets, and soon Isaac and Willow find Shakespeare’s words mirroring their lives. When they are cruelly torn apart, neither know how this play will end—with madness and heartache? Or healing, love, and the discovery of who they are truly meant to be.
In Harmony is a standalone NEW ADULT love story, and is intended for readers 18 and up. PLEASE NOTE, this book contains sensitive material such as physical abuse, and the aftermath

“Your talent is on a different level. It’s like you cast a spell, tricking us into believing we’re somewhere else. That’s a gift. Sometimes people need a break from their own lives. You give that to them.” This is what Willow says to Isaac after she’s watched him perform on stage for the first time.
This is exactly what Emma Scott makes me feel when I read her words. Her stories. She transports me to another world. Makes me experience every emotion. It’s real and vivid. It’s ugly and it’s beautiful. Her prose and construction of In Harmony is flawless and meticulously executed.
Isaac and Willow have both lost their voices from different outside forces. Not only has Willow’s voice been repressed, her light has been snuffed out because of a sexual assault. Their journey back to rediscovering themselves, reclaiming their voices and power are executed masterfully with the incorporation Shakespeare’s Hamlet. On stage they both find their voices. Together they find solace and trust in one another. They become a unity.
Emma Scott captures something real, authentic and current with In Harmony. Every voice matters. Find the strength to stand up and voice it. Willow’s journey is raw, poignant and emotional. It has to be given the seriousness of the topic. It’s not to be taken lightly and In Harmony is a roller coaster of emotions. It’s a long road towards the light. Willow and Isaac face a lot of resistance and hate but they never give up on one another and themselves.
Thankfully they have a wonderful support system from some pretty amazing people. These secondary characters become as important as Willow and Isaac. Willow’s bestie , Angie and The Fords - Marty and Brenda. They play an integral part to them fighting back and becoming more. A new and stronger version of Willow and Isaac. Two lights that can fight against the wind.
It’s no secret that Emma Scott has cemented herself as a favorite author of mine years ago. In Harmony is her proving that to me once again. The message of this book is powerful and unequivocal. She achieves it with an original storyline and the end result left me feeling hopeful and confident. Not just about today but about the future.
I’m going to end my review with this quote from In Harmony. “I want to thank you for taking me somewhere else for a couple hours. I needed it.” Willow couldn’t have said it any better.

Excerpt
“I’m so…not into being with someone right now,” Willow said with a nervous lilt to her words. “Not for a while, anyway.”
I heard a whisper on the breeze, or ever again. A heaviness in her eyes hinted she had lost something and had almost given up trying to find it.
She hasn’t given up, I thought, a fierce admiration welling in me. That’s why she’s doing the play. To find it again.
In that moment, I vowed to try to cut out all the egotistical bullshit and jealousy over Justin. The dance was out of range now anyway. I couldn’t ask her to go even if I wanted to. Which I didn’t. My job was to help her find what she was looking for in Hamlet, however I could. Even as it dented my eagerness to get the hell out of Harmony.
Willow shielded her eyes from the sun and squinted at me. “So what about you?”
“What about me?”
“Do you like anyone?” she asked, her voice a half tone higher than usual. She laughed. “That’s such a high school thing to ask.”
“No,” I said. “If all goes to plan, I’m leaving Harmony, remember? Stupid to start something now.”
“Sure. Makes sense.”
A silence fell.
“Yeah, so I probably won’t go to the dance,” Willow said. “I’m not good in that kind of situation anymore.”
“What kind of situation?”
She shook her head. “Never mind. I should get back.”
Willow started to scoot down off the block. I held my hand out to her to help. She hesitated for a fraction of a second and then took it. I held my other hand out and she took that too. I steadied her as she hopped down and then we were standing face to face. Close enough I could see her pale blue eyes had lighter shards of blue in them, like a topaz. Close enough to smell the sweetness of her breath—coffee tinged with sugar. Close enough to dance if we wanted.
“Thanks,” Willow said, gazing up at me.
“Sure,” I said.
I still held her hands. She didn’t let go.
“So,” she breathed, still not moving.
“Yeah.”
I glanced down at our hands. I hadn’t touched something this soft and good in ages. The sleeve of her coat bunched up and I spied a black mark on the inside of her forearm, close to her wrist. Willow drew in a breath as I turned her hand over. An X, about the size of a quarter, was stark on her pale skin.
She tugged her hands away. “I really need to get back.”
Every instinct cried out to take her hand again, to ask her what the X meant. To lick my thumb and erase it off her skin. I didn’t know what it meant but the sight of it made my stomach feel heavy.
“Willow—”
“I doodle when I’m bored. I told you that.” Her voice was sharp but her smile wobbled. “Let’s go.”
We walked the short distance back to town wordlessly. Back in front of the theater, Willow shouldered her bag and glanced around. “Thanks for today. I think Martin would be happy with our progress.”
“I do too.”
God, would he, I thought.
“So, I guess I’ll see you Monday?” she said.
“You have a ride home?”
“Oh, uh…” She still wouldn’t meet my eyes. “I was thinking of walking.”
“To Emerson Hills?” I said. “That’s a mile and a half and it’s getting dark soon.”
She raised her brows. “I’m not allowed to walk in the dark?”
“You’re allowed,” I said, “but I don’t want you to.”

The gig was simple enough.
I was to take over as the merch girl for Swedish rock god, Emil Vinter.
He was gorgeous, magnetic, sexy.
Worshipped by the masses for his sick talent.

I'm Aishe Xodyar, a hot-blooded Gypsy with a flair for dark love.
I felt safe; no way Emil's sunny, extroverted disposition could feed my fixation.

But under the surface, lurked a self-destructive artist.

An unhealthy obsession with Russian roulette.
A seductive lack of compassion.
A love so all-consuming it surpassed my wildest imagination.

Emil Vinter became my sinkhole.
By the end of the world tour, his larger-than-life presence was swallowing me whole.

Absence of You is an electric, sexy, hot rock star romance like no other. I devoured this book. Sunniva Dee sure knows how to write an unapologetic bad boy!” - LJ Shen, USA Today Bestselling author ☆☆☆☆☆

Excerpt

I’m just their merch girl. Sometimes it’s surreal that I get to experience this with the band. My imagination transports me into a future where moments like these have become memories. They hit me straight in the diaphragm, forcing my eyes shut with the bliss that I was a part of this, that I was there when a great band was in the process of becoming legendary.
The audience loses it around me, smiling, chanting along to a song they don’t know because it’s the first time Emil sings it live. I’m being bumped from all sides, life is perfect, and I’m grinning so big, my Gypsy blood rushes through my veins, affording the disquiet I crave.
I start jumping to the beat as Emil slides to his knees at the edge of the stage. He laughs into the microphone. He’s a god, yelling, “Hey! Hey! What’s up? You’ve come to the right place! I’m here to entertain—and if you’re bored when I’m done, I’ll shoot a bullet through my head for your—
Enter—
Tain—
Ment!”
On the third chorus, the crowd gets it and shouts the last words out with him. On the fourth chorus, the music disappears. I tense and swing to Troll, but find him laughing behind the sound booth. The guys lift their hands from their instruments, not playing, just screaming the chorus with Emil and enjoying the wall of feedback from the sixteen-hundred-strong audience.
I woot, my voice meshing with the others’.
Nadia’s at a table to the right of the stage. Bo exchanges a flirty wink with her, but then my attention pulls back to Emil.
Goodness. Emil.
He’s arched up in his kneeled position when the music resumes again, an onslaught of sound after the club-wide a cappella performance we just experienced. His hips thrust forward like a bullfighter, like a lover, his package bulging with excitement. A heated sting hits my abdomen at the sight. I wonder if everyone notices that detail, or if I’m just abnormally tuned in.
It’s hard to take my eyes off of him nowadays. When he flirted with me the other night— Yeah.
Unsettling.
Still, to mingle with foreigners like Emil, from way up north in Santa Land, should be the safest way to go for me. I remind myself of how the snow puts those guys on ice and gives them a bleak strain of love compared to the hot-blooded crazy of my race.
Emil lowers his face, targeting me. His features stretch in a dazzling smile, his body emanating the joy I feel whenever I’m around him.
Shandor’s glare follows me too, but I ignore him and slant up on my stiletto toes. Raise both hands to my mouth. Then I throw Emil a kiss with the tips of all ten fingers.
He sees me and laughs softly into the mic as the music ebbs on the last note. Used to his antics, the band doesn’t react when he lowers on his hands and crawls forward on the stage until his face peeks over the edge.
The audience roars, and between their response and Emil’s eyes, my determination blazes. I’m not waiting. I’m not leaving this opportunity to some fan, because he’s never been closer to becoming my prize.
I press forward past whooping ticket payers. Emil’s stare remains on me, inviting me forward, and I leap the last few feet until I’m inches away, my face even with his. I grab the stage with my hands, letting my eyes burn freely with my people’s fervor. It’s arousal, desire, need, and everything that’s red, and I can’t help it and I don’t fucking care. All I know is Emil’s here and I’ve got air in my lungs to live and breathe and not fear.
Santa Land, I think as he leans down to find my mouth.
Harmless, I think as soft lips meet mine for the first time.
Crazy, I think when he feels so much better than I hoped.

Release Blitz - Make It To The Altar by Fiona Cole

Release Date: February 8, 2018

Synopsis

It took Kevin and Ana ten years to find their happily ever after, and they can't wait to claim each other as husband and wife.
But when one thing after the next goes wrong, they begin to wonder if they’ll ever get to say their ‘I do’s’. As Ana starts to crumble under the stress, Kevin knows that he needs a plan. Her submission calms her, his control centers them both, and speeding up their path to matrimony seems to be the best course of action. That is, if they can make it to the altar.

When I found out that Fiona Cole was going to release a novella to Shame I was beyond ecstatic. I love Shame because of Kevin and Anabelle. These two people are such complex and interesting characters that I couldn’t wait to see what Fiona Cole would have in store for them with this novella.

Make It To The Altar is a delicious and very sexy dessert. I got more of Ana and Kevin. More of them as best friends, lovers and their dynamics in their sexual relationship . Kevin is the man in their relationship. In charge and full on dominant which Ana wants and needs. They both need. I enjoyed every scene between Kevin and Ana. They have so much chemistry and their love shines through every word they say to one another. Yes, Kevin can get rough when they play but it’s with Ana’s needs in mind. His love for Ana. All the time. Their relationship isn’t like anyone else but it’s their normal and I love how Fiona Cole captures it. Both in Shame but most definitely also in Make It To The Altar.

Make It To The Altar is the perfect closure to Anabelle and Kevin’s story. They’ve come so far since Shame. The growth and evolution they’ve gone through is incredible. Fiona Cole has created a unique love story that I’ll always treasure because of these characters.

“Our church, it’s gone.” The first tear fell when I reached her, and I pulled her into my arms. Rocking her, I looked to see what was on TV, and sure enough, there was a newscast covering how the church we were supposed to get married in had burnt down. Fuck me. Ana loved that church.

“Shh. Shh.” I ran my hands down her long hair. “We’ll find a new one.”
“Find a new one?” She jerked her head back, brows lowered, mouth pinched. “That church was a miracle, and now it's fucking gone. Where are we going to find another church, Kevin?" She pulled out of my arms with a humorless laugh. "We'll add it to the list, right after a new bakery." Running her hands through her hair, she walked to the edge of the island and tossed her arms wide. "Oh, yeah. We need to find another florist because we won't be able to get our flowers after some twelve-year-old fucked it all up."
“What?” I was trying to follow what she was saying, but the way she rambled and was choking back sobs made it difficult. My mind was spinning with ways to keep up. "The flowers?"
“Yeah, just got off a phone call with them.” She turned to me with sad, defeated eyes and just stared. I held her gaze, trying to see what to do next. Her chest moved faster and faster like she couldn't control her breathing. "Fuck!" she shouted, turning to lean over the counter. "Fuck this stupid wedding. Fuck the people. Fuck the flowers. Fuck the cake. Fuck everything. This is so fuck—”
“That’s enough.” My voice was hard and loud, demanding she stop. Her fists clenched against the granite and her hair fell like a curtain, hiding her face from me. I had to stop her from spiraling out of control. And I only knew one way to do it. It may not have been exactly how I planned our night going, but she needed me to take control and give her a reprieve from thinking about the wedding. “Kneel.”
She stood, shaking her head. “Kevin, I’m not in the—.”
“I said, kneel.” I deepened my tone, not allowing any question whether I was serious and not taking no for an answer. When she turned to look at me finally, I made my eyes hard, steady, ready to take on her pain. She took in a shaky breath as she faced me. “I won’t say it again, Anabelle.”
 Swallowing hard, she knelt.
I turned the TV off and walked over to her before burrowing my hands into her hair to pull it off her face. Fisting it tight, I jerked her head back, so she had no choice but to look at me. “Take my cock out—quickly—and get me hard. Use your mouth.”
