Coast by Jay McLean

One life-changing summer.
One boy.
The boy.
The boy who offered me safe touches and heart-stopping smiles - smiles he shared with his son.
We filled our days with porch-step kisses,
filled our ears with laughter,
filled our hearts with love.
Deep, soul-aching, desperate love.
But love is misleading.
It's an invisible, fleeting moment.
Somewhere between false adoration and pure hatred comes an emotion, a vulnerable need, a single desire.
It lives within the ones who miss it, who crave it,
who know better than to expect it.
Love is relentless.
Even when that love turns to hate, turns to loathing,
turns to pain.
Love should heal you.
But it can also break you.
Believe me, I know...
Because I'm Becca Owens - a broken girl...
...And he's Josh Warden - the boy who broke me.

I'm gutted but in the most exhausting
 and exhilarating way.
Coast was phenomenaI!!!
I mentioned this my Kick, Push review and I'm going to say it again.
Jay McLean can evoke every emotion known to mankind.
She does it so effortlessly and with so much power that they hit right where it hurts the most.
The heart.
Her writing was sublime and the pace of the story was spot on.
Coast was a perfect character and emotional driven story.
It centered a lot around Becca's recovery but it had to since no one overcomes that kind of abuse and neglect in a couple of months.
It was powerful and felt very real how Becca tried to fight her fears.
I felt I got so close and under Becca's skin that it became more personal.
I was more invested and dedicated in her journey to recovery.
I loved how Josh fought for Becca.
To save her from her fears.
He was the heart of the story. Along with his son Tommy of course.
I loved their journey and how much they both fought in order to achieve their goals. Love, family and acceptance.
Coast was fantastic all around.
I loved all the secondary characters.
From Grams, Tommy to Josh and Becca's parents and friends.
It was an insanely well crafted story with so much heart and a hell of lot of emotions. The epilogue concluded the story perfectly with a beautiful ending to all the characters.

Kick Push by Jay McLean

There’s a single defining moment within every skater.
It lasts only a second. Two if you're good.
Three if you’re really good.
It’s the moment you’re in the air, your board somewhere
beneath you, and nothing but wind surrounds you.
It’s the feeling of being airborne.

The sixteen-year-old version of me would’ve said it was the
greatest feeling in the world.
Then at seventeen, I had my son.
And every single second became a defining moment. Even the ones that consisted of heartbreak when his mother left us.

Seventeen. Single. Dad.
That’s what my life became.
Yet, every day, I managed to find that feeling of being
airborne.
Or at least I convinced myself I did.
But I lied—to myself and to everyone around me.
Until she showed up; Tanned skin, raven dark hair, and eyes the color of emeralds.

You know what sucks about being in the air?
Coming down from the high.
Sometimes you land on the board and nail the trick.
Then kick, push, and coast away.
Other times you fall.
You fall hard.
And those are the times when it’s not as easy to get back up, dust off your pads and try again.
Especially when the girl with the emerald eyes becomes your drug...
And you become her poison.

I'm so in love with this story
 and its characters.
Wow!
What did I just read!!
It was hauntingly beautiful,
emotional and raw.
I loved every single page of it.
I fell in love with Joshua, Tommy,
Becca and their friends and families.
I enjoyed the emotions it evoked in me and sometimes it came out of nowhere and cracked open my chest and squeezed my heart and made it hurt like hell,
but that's exactly why I love to read!
When words can hurt and make me feel Jay McLean succeeded in that.
Her words and storytelling was captivating. Some scenes were very difficult to read and really made me hurt but she wrote them with so much thought and care that it only made me feel the characters even more and on a deeper level.
Joshua was a fantastic character
and so was Becca. His need to be anything but weak and to provide for his son Tommy was awe inspiring.
He had my heart from page one.
Becca was a broken soul and even though Joshua had experienced his losses and neglect it was nothing compared to Becca. What Becca had experienced was heartbreaking and beyond horrifying.

I loved how they both found safety and solace in one another.
These moments were amazing and I really enjoyed them right along with the more darker moments.
The secondary characters were fabulous and I was interested and invested in all of them.

McLean has truly captured and mesmerized me with her words.
This story packed a punch.
Straight to my heart.
I'm so glad there's a sequel because
I'm so in love with these characters.

Going Down by Katherine Stevens

The plan for Cici Carrington was to steadily climb UP the corporate ladder, and hopefully do so without her skirt tucked
into the back of her underpants.
Unfortunately, there was no contingency plan for the aftermath of spending a night trapped in an elevator with a suit-wearing Elevator Sex God named Cole Danvers.
A one…or two-time dalliance wouldn’t normally throw off the course of someone’s life…
unless you find out you have to
work together the next day.

To further complicate matters, Cici’s best friend is also her Human Resources Director.
She has to hide her secret from
every person she knows. Her only confidant is her one-eyed cat, and his loyalty is tenuous at best. Toss in an accidental mugging, a bungled disguise, secret meetings, and unintentional arson, and Cici’s beautiful, careful plan has fallen by the wayside.

Perhaps there aren’t any hard and fast rules in life. Sometimes you can have your cake and eat it too. Sometimes following the rules
doesn’t get you ahead.

And perhaps sometimes
you can get off between floors

I expected to laugh
but I didn't expect it to be
from start to finish.
Going Down was a riot!
I don't think, to my recollection,
that I've actually laughed so hard that it resulted in tears,
but it happened while I read this.
At one point I almost choked on my coffee!
Cici, the female lead character,
was a funny woman with verbal diarrhea.
I enjoyed her so much.
She had her quirks such as yelling former presidential names when she climaxed,
yes I'm not kidding and it was hilarious!
Her roommate was her one eyed cat Leroy who also had his quirks just like his owner.
It was an exciting ride to watch Cici meet the attractive Cole
and connect with him in a stalled elevator.
I felt their attraction instantly
and he was such a great opponent to Cici. Their relationship was  romantic and funny.
Cici's best friend Maggie was hilarious too and also had her weird ways.
They had their own way of communicating and it only added to the laughs.
Katherine Stevens definitely delivered a romance comedy that I fell in love with.
Her writing was fresh, flawless and just flowed. I couldn't stop reading.
She's definitely an author
I'm going look out for in the future.

First and Goal by Kata Čuić

Eva Papageorgiou has one goal:
to make it through her senior year of high school unseen and unscathed. But when her strategy to stay out of the limelight is derailed by rampant rumors, she’s forced to change tactics. Her new game plan is to keep everyone at arm’s length. Especially boys. So when she’s partnered up in class with the hot as hell varsity quarterback, she pushes and pushes.

Until he pushes back.

Rob Falls just wants to fit in. With his teammates, with his friends, with everyone. His image as the quintessential jock makes him feel like a fraud. Especially since it’s the only reason all the girls at school want him, except the one girl he dreams about. She wants nothing to do with him. When he’s forced to tutor the class pariah, he realizes it’s time to get in the game instead of standing on the sidelines.

She’s going to help him get exactly what he wants, whether she knows it or not.

Life doesn’t come with a playbook, but Rob knows this could be the most important play he’ll ever make.

First and Goal is book one in The Moving the Chains series. It ends on a cliffhanger.

I finished First and Goal while
I was on a quiet night shift.
I'm still thinking about this fabulous story from Kata ÄŒuić, as I sit her writing this review,
and it's her debut none the less.
I wouldn't have thought since her writing felt effortless and confident.
Her words jumped off the page with such ease and I was captured.
First and Goal was intriguing, filled with
strong flawed characters who had an important story to tell.
I was invested in Rob and Evie
from the first page. I really liked how ÄŒuić chose to tell their story which began from their first meeting freshman year.
It made their connection and friendship believable and real. So was the story.
It was relatable and the whole high school environment authentic
which added drama to the story.
I seriously loved Rob and his shyness but most definitely also his patience
and respect towards Evie.
He was the sweetest guy with a big heart and a bright head on his shoulders.
Evie just like Rob was a great character.
She had her guard up against everyone but with reason. She was loyal to the people she trusted. I loved and enjoyed how they went from hating each other to being friends.
It was a roller coaster ride of emotions
and I felt them all.
Kata ÄŒuić got herself a fan for life!!!
Her writing was flawless, funny and clever.
It kept me on my toes and
when I reached the final page
I wanted more,
so much more from these characters.
Her debut was a home run and I can't wait to see what she has in store for her next books. Now I'm patiently waiting.

Synopsis:

Coming home to a quiet, dark house. Meals by myself, because she was already done. Excuses and apologies, they were never enough. But even with that, when I touched her—when she arched under me and pulled me deeper— we couldn’t get back to where we needed to be. Where we used to be. It was all frustration. Loneliness. Loss. Because even though she was no longer my student, the chemistry was always there. Adele and I loved each other. We thought we were unshakeable. But love isn’t always enough. It wasn’t enough when I constantly disappointed her. It wasn’t enough when loss cleaved us in two. And when she left me, love was not enough. She didn’t know yet that I’d never stop fighting for her. But she would. **Author’s note- Let’s be real clear that this is BOOK TWO of a duet, and you’re going to want to read Tempting before you read this one. Adele and Nathan started their story in that book, and you’ll get the same sex, fighting, and cursing that you did in the first. But if you want it to make sense, read Tempting first. If any of that offends you, please avoid them both.**

Wicked Ride by Sawyer Bennett

Wicked Ride Blog Tour BannerWicked Ride
(The Wicked Horse Series Book #4)
Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: June 28, 2016

Synopsis:
I think this woman may be the death of me. A dire prediction, but probably true. Probably true because she’s not mine to have and I’ll probably take her, even at the risk to my own safety. So many men slobbering to get a taste of her and only one, sweet, virginal girl to go around. That’s right. She’s a virgin. Looking like a porcelain china doll that would break if not handled carefully. But I also know she’s stronger than she looks. She’s a contradiction. She’s most likely my downfall. Like I said, she’ll probably be the death of me, but it’s a risk I’m willing to take. **Warning: this book has sex in it. Lots of sex. Dirty sex. The Wicked Horse Series is a bit different than what Sawyer Bennett normally writes. While you’ll still enjoy fabulous characters, a suspenseful story, some witty banter and an epic romance, there’s just... a lot of sex.
You’ve been warned.

The title is such a good depiction
of what your in for with this one!
This definitely keeps the scorching hot flame going in the Wicked Horse series.
What I love about this series, is that the original nature of the story-lines.
I have read this series completely out of order and I don't feel like
I've missed a one thing.
Bennett writes so flawlessly you're  immediately
drawn in like a moth to a flame.
I typically  like all the characters in a story even the "bad guy",
but I  totally despised Magnus.
I know he wasn't meant to be liked, but damn! Kudos to Sawyer for making him so disgusting and essentially weak by himself.
A lot of people in power positions surround themselves with muscle men to carry out a threat and Magnus definitely did that.
Auralie had a very strong sense
 of family loyalty.
If I had to sum her up in one word
 it would be strong.
That  girl possessed an inordinate amount of strength, in everything.
From doing her job,  to standing  by her father,  to resisting Logan.
Honestly,  I would have jumped  his bones the minute we were alone.
He fuckin oozed sex!
And that dirty ass mouth, Fuuuuck!
I was so keyed up at times, I had to stop reading so I could let's say...
 work out my aggressions.
The hubby  didn't mind one iota.
Just Sayin!!!
I'm sure looking forward to Bridger's story!

Say you'll stay by Corinne Michaels

Say You'll Stay (Return to Me, #1)

One word.
Stay.

It was all he had to do. Instead, he got on that bus and took my heart with him.

That was seventeen years ago.

I moved on. Marriage. Kids. White picket fence. Everything I ever wanted, but my husband betrayed me and I was left once again.

Alone, penniless, and with two boys, I had no choice but to return to Tennessee. He wasn’t supposed to be there. I should’ve been safe. However, fate has a way of stepping in.

This time around, the tables are turned. It’s my decision. Second chances do exist, but I don’t know if we can repair what’s already been broken .

 . .

Well this story took me by surprise.

I didn't really have any expectations, the synopsis drew me in and that was all it took. I was pleasantly surprised by the characters and their personalities.
The first couple of chapters captured me instantly with the seriousness of a topic most people know and will have an opinion of.

I was with Presley all the way.
Felt and experienced what
she was going through.
It was heartbreaking.
How she handled it was to be expected given the circumstances and she tried to be strong for her two boys.
I loved the characters in this story.
Especially her high school sweetheart Zachary, his brothers but also her brother Cooper, her good friends Angie and Grace. There was so much love and personality in each and every one of them.
It was beautiful to experience Presley's road back to life and love all thanks to the people she surrounded herself with.

Zachary made me swoon big time. I was enamored the first time Presley met Him again 17 years later.
I could easily feel their attraction and the history they shared was
sweet and memorable.
I was rooting for them!
Zachary's brothers were amazing as well. I really enjoyed Wyatt's close friendship with Presley and Trent's brooding character and his somewhat relationship with Grace.
This was a fantastic second chance romance and I enjoyed it from start to finish.
Corinne Michaels writing was flawless
 and captivating as ever.
I'm so excited to read the other two Hennington brothers' stories.
They have definitely peaked my interest.
